Once again it's time for some myth-busting (you would have known by now that love busting myths).



This time we tell you about some commonly associated myths with exercise and then we deflate them. Let's see what these myths are and then debunk them:

Myth 1: Exercise is a Waste if you're not going to Work Out Hard and Often



This kind of thinking keeps a lot of people from maintaining or even starting an exercise program. Many studies have pointed out that any exercise is better than nothing; a classic case of “something is better than nothing”. Even mild exercises like walking, gardening etc. for short periods can be very beneficial and can reduce the risk of heart diseases.

Myth 2: You Will Burn more Fat If You Exercise Longer at a Lower Intensity



The fact is that the faster you walk, step or run, the more calories you burn. However, high-intensity exercise is difficult to sustain if you are just beginning or returning to exercise, so you may not exercise very long at this level. It is safer, and more practical, to start out at a lower intensity and work your way up gradually.

Myth 3: You should Never Eat before a Workout



If you go for a workout with an empty stomach, you'll be going without the much-needed “fuel”. "Fuel" from food and fluids is required to provide the energy for your muscles to work efficiently, even if you are doing an early morning workout. You can eat a small meal or a light snack (but it should be healthy) one to three hours before the exercise.

Myth 4: Exercise is the Sure Shot Way to Lose All the Weight



Exercise is not the single factor governing weight loss. Weight gain or loss is impacted by many factors, including dietary intake and genetics. Although exercise solely cannot assure you of weight loss, regular and orderly physical activity goes a long way in ensuring long-term weight management.

Myth 5: Yoga is a Mild and Safe Exercise



Yoga is a brilliant and impactful of exercise, but it is not as gentle as people might tell you. Some styles can be quite rigorous and demanding - both physically and mentally. As with any form of exercise, qualified, careful instruction is necessary for a safe, effective yoga session
