THE women in the Gandhi family have more than just the gentle strength, quiet confidence and commanding personalities in common. They also share their minimalistic yet elegant style and sense of fashion.
Whether it rests in their genetic make-up or it’s a cultivated taste that runs in the family, the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Congress chief Sonia and daughter Priyanka possess a similar dress and demeanour.
From their love for the traditional handloom sari to soft checks and prints to even their chic short hairstyles and covering their heads with the pallu of the sari ever so often, the Gandhian trio is a picture of an ethnic yet modern charm.
There is but a degree of separation in their modes of fashion though. While Priyanka chooses a more casual and easy manner to her sari drapes, Sonia seems to have a prim and proper approach, pinning her crisp pallu on her shoulder.
Indira Gandhi seemed to have a natural flair whether it was a pinned- up, casual or head- covering drape.
As Priyanka’s style is a mishmash of both her mother’s and grandmother’s looks, is it then only a matter of time before we see the star campaigner of the Congress following in their political footsteps?
